Venturing out of my east London comfort zone and into the swanky streets of Marylebone, I was thrilled to be invited to the much-anticipated launch of the House of Peroni.

Encompassing the ‘new wave of Italian style and creativity’, the House of Peroni is a trendy pop-up restaurant-cum-art gallery showcasing the best of current Italian style. Like all good things, at the very heart of the venture is beer (Peroni of course), which, to my surprise, works quite well in a cocktail.

The House put on a decadent opening party; smiling waitresses circulated with cocktails made by London’s most sought after mixologist, Gerry Calabrese while guests enjoyed music by DJ Riva Starr.

Canapés were provided by the Michelin-starred CostardiBrothers. Particularly scrumptious was the deep fried spaghetti, creamy potato cod fish mantecato and ‘rossovalentino’, served in adorable vintage tins. Sweeter dishes included a fantastic white chocolate and basil meringue dessert with raspberry coulis. If the canapés were anything to go by, the restaurant is not one to miss.

Notable guests included fashion photographer Miles Aldridge, models Caitlin Curran and Robin Pawloski and fashion designers Arthur Arbesser and Simone Rainer.
